The Sacrifice (2)

Scene 2

2.         KIRA IS WALKING DOWN THE PROMENADE, LOOKING AROUND AS IF

SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE.  SHE SEES ODO A SHORT WAYS AHEAD

AND WALKS OVER TO HIM WITH A LOOK OF RELIEF.

KIRA

Odo!  Am I glad to see you.  (she places a hand

momentarily upon his arm)  Sisko needs someone

to go to docking bay six and meet with a ship.

They're transporting wounded to sick bay.  Will you

                                    go for me?  (smiles pleadingly)

ODO

(tilts his head slightly, noticing Kira's odd look)  Are

                                    you not feeling well?

KIRA

Oh, I'm fine, really.  I'm just feeling a little worn out

                                    right now.

ODO

Perhaps you should report to sick bay yourself.

KIRA

No really, I'll be alright.  I just need a short break -

                                    I've been so busy.

ODO

                                    (unconvinced)  Hmmmmm . . .  Yes.

KIRA

(placing her hand on his arm again)  Please.  Will

                                    you go for me Odo?

ODO

Well, I suppose if Sisko needs somebody down there,

I will do.  You said docking bay six, I believe?

KIRA

(nods and smiles)  Oh, thank you Odo!

ODO

Don't mention it, Major.  I hope you're feeling better

                                    soon.

            Kira begins to leave.

ODO

Should I mention it to Dr. Bashir when I arrive?

Kira turns around, still walking away.

KIRA

Oh no, that's alright Odo.  I'll be fine.

Odo watches her depart and shakes his head wonderingly.  He EXITS.

He said, "Why should I tarry?"

And smiled with tranquil eye;

"In destinies sad or merry,

True men can but try."
