Poem # 56

Solace

Solace sought

No solace found

Dreams betray

Pain profound

Heartache’s hope

Lies unfulfilled

Illusions slain

Aspirations killed

Solace sought

No solace known

Peace unmet

Sorrow sown

Mind at war

Strength is gone

Love untapped

Nights too long

Solace sought

No solace met

Nothing changed

Only regrets

Signs unseen

Answers none

Emptiness aplenty

Anguish certain

Solace sought

No solace to be

Tears at night

Hollow, empty

Frustration filled

Anger too

Hope vanished

Like morning’s dew

No solace for me

No solace for you

He said, "Why should I tarry?"

And smiled with tranquil eye;

"In destinies sad or merry,

True men can but try."

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
