Song # 3

I can't say

Verse 1

You’ve stood by me

like few ever have

you treated me good

when I felt so bad

the dreams that we shared

that I tossed aside

you never lose hope

though I make you cry

you weather this storm

that I brought to you

and never lose patience

when you have every right to

Chorus

I can’t make no promise

though I tell you I’ll try

your strength and your faith

bring a tear to my eye

I never deserved

a woman like you

tired and alone

oh, what I put you through

with your guiding light

we’ll both see our way through

Verse 2

they say there’s no love

not worth fightin’ for

no pain that ain’t worth

not walkin’ out that door

you’ve gone through it all

with my ups and downs

yet you’ve never left

been there all along

don’t lose your hope

don’t lose your faith

believe in yourself

same road we may once again take

Chorus

Refrain

You know I can’t say

what for us is in store

but I promise you this

I will never ignore

you need only call my name

whatever you need

won’t abandon our son

though I know your heart bleeds

Chorus

He said, "Why should I tarry?"

And smiled with tranquil eye;

"In destinies sad or merry,

True men can but try."
