Poem #69

freed

An angel came to me today and alighted on my skin

soft as newborn baby’s breath, a Spirit that was kin;

she folded in her golden wings and stood upon my heart

enveloped me in tenderness that caught me with a start;

gaze I did upon the sight of precious Seraphim

then reach, did I, when offered her heart, but took it back again.

As sudden as she appeared to me, she unfurled her golden wings

bedazzled by her soulful song, a tortured dirge she sings;

I stood and watched as South she looked then flew away from me;

An angel came to me today, and set my sad soul free.

 He said, "Why should I tarry?"

And smiled with tranquil eye;

"In destinies sad or merry,

True men can but try."
