Poem #41

Path of the Prodigal Son

The Page is turned

The day is done

Night falls dark and bleak

The words are written

The heartsong sung

Havoc sown and reaped

The rain has fell

The storm has passed

Though heartache’s drought remains

The wind has calmed

The clouds have cleared

All and Nothing is the same

A new day dawns

The sun’s light breaks

A new Page to inscribe

Death has come

From ashes erupt

A Phoenix new and alive

The life I gladly

Embrace somehow

The old unfettered path

My feet have found

Their former way

From which I won’t turn back

The Page is turned

The joy restored

A Son of Prodigy

The table’s set

The feast is served

I finally found my way

He said, "Why should I tarry?"

And smiled with tranquil eye;

"In destinies sad or merry,

True men can but try."
